This includes two participatory processes and many seminar-conversations and exchanges. [See Program]
VIEWS OF SURVIVAL – THE PROCESS
Come on your own, with friends or family, or as a group.
Bring an object which raises the question
Do I/we really need this to survive – at what cost, and to whom?
If the object in question is too big -like a car or a fridge, then you can ‘bring’ it by describing it or drawing it on a piece of paper.
A GIFT FOR JOSEPH BEUYS; 3 POTS FOR THE FUTURE
In the Survival Room you can also participate in ‘A Gift for Joseph Beuys: 3 Pots for the Future’ action [See Exchanges] and find out about all the different aspects of the Kassel-21 Social Sculpture Lab, including FRAMETALKS, which is in the Foyer.
INDIVIDUAL BOOKINGS
You no longer need to book a place in the Survival Room, but you might need to wait if you do not have a booking. Currently up to 18 people are allowed to be in the Survival Room at one time.
FOR GROUP PROCESSES in the Survival Room
Please book with the MHK Visitors Service or email info@socialsculpturelab.com – with ‘Survival Room Group’ in the subject line.
DATES for the Survival Room Exchanges
The Survival Room Exchange processes takes place on several dates from June to September.
[See Program]
All welcome. Participation is free if you are coming only to the Survival Room – or if you meet the conditions for not paying museum entry fees.
Your guide
Shelley Sacks, artist-curator of the lab, will guide these Survival Room Exchange processes using her ‘connective practice approach’ that goes beyond discussion and arguing about viewpoints and positions, and enables people to come to new insights and to work with what Beuys called “the invisible materials of speech, discussion and thought”.
We hope to see you in person in the Survival Room with your object, and to participate in the action: A Gift for Joseph Beuys / 3 Pots for the Future.
